To follow up on the last newsletter where I explained how I take photos for Instagram, I thought this time Iād show you all my gear that I use to make everything Byte Review :
Sony A7iv - This is my main camera, and the one I recommend most to other creators out there. It shoots 4k up to 60p (with a crop), has incredible autofocus for face tracking, takes 33mp images, and has a wide selection of affordable and expensive lenses. Perfect for photo and video combined.
Sony FX3 - My second camera which I use solely for filming, although it can do decent photos in a pinch. It does 4k all the way up to 120p which is amazingly useful and has a video focused body so you donāt need a cage for it.
Zeiss Batis 25mm f2 - This is the lens I use for all my A roll on the channel. Nice and wide and has a low aperture which gives some background blur. Whenever thereās a shot of me on the channel itās 95% of the time shot on this.
Sony 50mm f1.4 gm - Oh man, this is the expensive one in the collection. 50mm is my favourite focal length for shooting B roll and the 1.4 f stop makes it a bokeh beast. I love the images this produces. Truly stunning. Truly expensive.
Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.8 - The longest lens I own. This is great for close ups and for shooting portraits (when I used to freelance a lot!). Lovely bokeh from this lens too.
Tamron 17 - 28mm f2.8 - My ultra-wide lens for when I need to get a lot into the frame. Iāll be honest, I donāt love this lens at all but it serves a purpose. If I can avoid using it, I do!
Sigma 28 - 70mm f2.8 - A highly versatile lens that I donāt think I can overstate how much I love. I shoot 90% of my Instagram content on it (reels and photos) and if I ever leave the office I slap this on here. Bokeh is decent enough at f2.8 and itās really well priced too.
šš»āāļø I still stand by saying gear isnāt everything. Iāve collected this over my nearly 8 years of shooting so I wouldnāt tell anyone to go out there and buy all this. You can start with your phone now and get incredible results, which was less possible in 2015!
Whatās new with Kiroku?
In case you somehow missed it (I mean, itās all Iāve been talking about on social media this week) we finally released our new lofi set Kiroku Radio Vol.4!
This one was really personal to us as weāre all massive Zelda fans and wanted to get the feeling just right, so it took a little longer than normal! Once again, smgdraws has done incredible artwork and animation for this, and our musician friend Luke Bond has really outdone himself, this is easily my favourite set of music heās made.
Itās also now live on Apple Music, Spotify, and all other streaming services too!
